Rain

Chitrali Dutta Roy (Age: 12 years)

The blissful sounds of the first rains,
And the gentle breeze that blows with it,
Forces us to pause our busy and bustling life
And forget all problems and pains
The fresh smell of petrichor,
And the tiny drops of water spraying on our skin
Causes serenity from within.

As the rain grows more powerful,
Followed by the deafening thunder,
'How versatile nature is’, makes me wonder.
The breeze once gentle,
Grows into powerful gusts of wind.
The gale whispering to the trees,
Causing a delightful sound of psithurism,
Puts your mind at ease.

The downpour begins to soften,
The strong winds begin to tame.
The melodious sounds of rain against the puddles of water,
Sound just like my friends' chatter

Rain can be serene,
Rain can be loud.
Rain brings tranquillity,
But can also break the silence.
The tiny droplets of water on the leaves,
Look like shining diamonds.
The rustling sounds of the leaves scattered from their pile,
All this makes me a pluviophile.
